No School!

| | Comments (0)

Well, the "Brazos Valley Blizzard of '07" has officially shut down the town. As of this afternoon they have closed the University (Matthew will be home - yeah!) and CSISD (kids home - uh-oh), and of course, Sonshine School (Philip will never know the difference) so we will all be sticking to the house tomorrow. The only thing on the agenda is that I do have Philip's 1 year check up scheduled for 11:00 but I will have to see how the roads are looking, it's just around the corner so it may not be a big deal.

I am looking forward to having an extra day to get some things done around here - funny what you can accomplish when you are not able to go anywhere! I, of course, am not going into this completely dillusional however. I am fully prepared for some major cabin fever induced fights - but I have my trusty supply of puzzles, books, DVD's, rooms full of toys, and computer time to extinguish any such fires!!

Here is a quick list of things I would like to get done while we are "iced in":
1. get the laundry all caught up - I have been moving the same piles from my bed to the basket for the past four days
2. organize my desk to get ready for school
3. log into my classes tomorrow and go through each one to get prepared for the semester
4. do a "big clean" of the house (dust, vacuum, scrub, etc)
5. send cards to some friends
6. start sorting through the transfer process from Blinn to A&M (or whatever university will take me) and working out a plan of action for my "next step" in getting done with school - I am maxed out at Bliin after this semester
7. make my list of what forms/information we will need to get started on our taxes(I usually do it myself with Turbotax, but Matthew did so much side work last year we are going to take it to someone to help out)
8. balance the bank and make out my menu/grocery list

Good Kick Start

OK, I have had much blogger guilt seeing as how I have not posted since November (ugh). I have been wanting to get back on track before my semester starts back up and since that is tomorrow, I guess now would be the perfect time.

A friend of mine "tagged" me (thanks Sheri!) so I figure this would be a great way to get me started without worrying about how to catch up on the last couple of months! So, here we go.

Here are the directions:
1)Grab the book closest to you.
2)Open to page 123, go down to the fourth sentence.
3)Post the text of the following 3 sentences on your blog.
4)Name the author and book title.
5)Tag three people to do the same

"The independent variable is is cognitive therapy versus no treatment: ten patients are randomly assigned to receive cognitive therapy and ten are randomly assigned to a no treatment control group. The dependent variable is scores on a standardized measure on the severity of depression, assessed after twelve weeks of treatment or no treatment; higher scores reflect more severe depression. Data for each of the hypothetical patients in each group are presented in Table 5.4. Note that the average scores of the two groups differ consideribly. "

Abnormal Psychology with Cases: Davidson, Neal and Kring

OK - so I bought my textbooks for this semester on Tuesday and they have been sitting right in the middle of my desk every since then. Although that excerpt sounds like a bunch a hoo-ha I am actually very excited about this Abnormal Psych class. I have decided that I would like to pursue my degree in Special Education and this class is one at Blinn that transfers to that degree.

Anyhoo- three people I will tag are Tiffany B, Stephanie R, and Erin J.
