Any solicitors may want to steer clear of 1109 Winecup during the hours of around 9-3 Monday - Thursday. I answered my door today to find a nice young man who had just opened an investment office in our area and was out "meeting the neighborhood" (which by the way is very un-investment banker like to me). But anyhoo, Olivia -who is 3 now and very curious- comes a runnin' any time she hears a door open. The nice man was giving his little speech as I tried my best to look interested while at the same time trying to keep Olivia wrangled in - she was trying the famous "drop to the floor and try and crawl between Miss Paula's legs" routine. I finally decided the easiest thing to do would be to hold her hand and let her stand by me in the doorway (hoping that he would see the SEVEN kids in my house and make it short). Well, like a lion pouncing on its prey, she slipped out of my hand and (for reasons still unbeknownst to me) grabbed him square in the crotch. In an attempt to pretend it did not happen, I quickly pulled her in and he just as quickly wrapped up his "hello's". I wished him well with his new business and giggled a little as I shut the door, kowing now that I have a pint sized solicitor deterrent right here with me.
If only life were as easy going and happy as it appears in the picture. In this picture they are all huggy-huggy, smiling and loving each other like brothers and sisters should. But reality has slapped me in the face the past couple of weeks as I have broke up more fights and arguments than I care to to count. This week I have turned away my sobbing children many times and told them to "dry it up", not because I am mean or calloused (although I fear that time is near), but because I know that as soon as they are out of my sight the tears mysteriously disappear and I hear a little "ha, ha - I told on you" directed at one or more of their siblings.
I have to remind myself that me and my sisters fought quite a bit, but we all love each other today. I know that Sam, Maddy and Luke do love each other - it is just hard to show it all the time.
And yes - I have begun the count down until school starts - 8 weeks from tomorrow to be exact. That's 56 days, 19 hours, 45minutes.....
