Philip

Philip is changing so fast right now. Every days he seems to be just a little bit bigger in some way. He is obviously growing, I have sadly packed away all of his 0-3 month clothes and am starting to find that his 3-6 months won't last much longer either. He had rice ceral for the first time this weekend, and I absolutely could not get it in his mouth fast enough! What a piggy! He is trying to sit up on his own, but still tips forward or rolls to the side like a bowling pin. He has also had a great discovery this past week - his toes! He loves to grab them with both hands and sway back and forth or just puill them to his mouth and gnaw on them - they're almost as good as the binky!! Philip is starting to "talk" alot more, he is finding new sounds that he can make. He has a very funny, high pitched squeal that he makes alot now that reminds me of Sam, who still has a very high pitch when he is excited. He LOVES the jumping Johnny, and his car that he sits up in. It is just about time for him to move out of the bassinet (there is not much room left in there) so we will have to get his crib down here soon and find somewhere to put him! His smile brightens my day know matter how tired I am, I love him so much that it takes my breath away.

Erin and her "friend"

I had to post this picture because it is so funny to me. My beautiful little niece, Erin, is almost 3 years old. Here is a little Erin biography: she loves to talk on play (and real) phones, has a bigger vocabulary than most 6 year olds, likes to take peoples keys (and sometimes loses them), loves sweet tea in her sippy cup, is the spitting image of her mommy, thinks her daddy hung the moon nad one more thing - she does NOT like Matt too much. You see, she had a bad experience when she was a little over a year old. We kept her here at our house for the weekend while Beth and Tim went to Port Aransas with our family. Let's just say she missed them very much and was not to happy to be with us. She seems to have gotten over it, but she still will run to her parents if we ask if she wants to come to my house or if Matt gets to close. She is warming up to him a little, but for this picture he had to sneak up from behind and then she realized he was there at the last minute. Matt shouldn't feel too bad - she seems to have an aversion to her uncle James, also!

April weekends

I looked at my calendar today and just shook my head in amazement at how quickly this month has gone by. Things have been a little busy and we jst seem to move at auch a quick pace now-a-days. But, it has been a great month. We went to Waco for Easter weekend and the kids had the best time. Matthew and I figured that by the time it was all done, they had a total of 6 Easter egg hunts- including ones with schools, church, both grandparents, and extended family. And they were just as excited about every one, except for Maddy who tends to be more shy and hangs back while the other kids are racing past her. But that is not surprising to me because I was pretty much the same wasy when I was little. Sam on the other hand - there was nothing that could hold him back . Fields full of candy tucked neatly into little eggs is a dream come true to him. It was great getting to spend time with all of our family, the kids even got to take their first swim in pool at Memaw and Pepaw's, they are really going to have a great summer! Philip was not quite up for the egg hunting or swimming yet, but he sure did make alot of people smile at the chance to get to hold and play with him.

Luke brought his school pictures home today, I think they turned out really well (I have some for everyone when we come to Waco this weekend!). It is hard to believe how fast his kindergarten year has gone by. They just started their last six weeks this week, so it will be over before I know it. I am so proud of Luke - he is reading everything he sees now, writing in complete sentences, and learning addition and subtraction. But I am especially thankful for the friends he has made because I can see that he is going to be a great friend to others as he grows. He did seem a little concerned the other day that none of his friends knew who Andy Griffith was, but I am sure he told them all about it. He loves dinosaurs and pirates right now, fights with Sam more than I would like, defends and comforts Maddy every chance he gets, and constantly wants to hold or help with Philip. For these and a thousand reasons more, we love him.
