Quiet end to a long day...
My house is quiet for the first timesince 5:30 this morning and I am basking in the tranquility - however brief it may be. Philip was up early this morning, so we got an early start to the day. The morning flowed with getting clothes set out, lunches and backpacks ready for school, and the kids waking up ready to get their morning dose of waffles and Sesame Street. It was a good day - watching the girls for Kathy, picking kids up from school, having friends over for dinner, so the house was busy all day.
I have prayed alot in the past few weeks for more patience. Having Philip in the house has been wonderful. Sam, Maddy and Luke can't get enough of him and there have been many fights about who is sitting closest to him. But the three of them have also taken full advantage of the fact the I am occupied quite a bit with tending to the baby, so they are pushing the limits. If I could just get the yelling factor under control, it would be a huge improvement. They have all decided that the best way to communicate to me and each other is to scream and throw a fit. Hmmm - that's just not working for me. I know they will all settle down and most of all now need as much one on one time with Matthew and I as possible. It's not always easy to come by, but I know it will benefit them greatly.
As for tonight - it is 9:15 and I am tired oif feeling rushed in the mornings. So, I am going to get my laundry done and set the kids clothes out (I promised Luke his dinosaur shirt for tomorrow and it just went into the washer so it will be a while), get breaksfast ready for in the morning (I promised Sam blueberry muffins) and send some emails (I promised Maddy her friend Grace could come home with us tomorrow - gotta ask her mom first).
It's times like this that I find myself most like my mom. She was always busy taking care of her family, whether it was working, driving us (and usually several of our friends) around, and making sure the house was running smoothly. I never imagined how much I would love being a mom, it is still a little unbelievable to me that the four little(sleeping) people in this house right now are mine and Matthew's.
