Pulling My Hair Out
Why is it that I have never once been able to have a doctor's visit (for me, Matthew or the kids) where we pay our co-pay or deductible, they bill the insurance and then everything is fine and dandy? I am so frustrated right now because I have just spent the past 2 hours of my morning looking up claims and receipts online and then talking with "associates" from the insurance company and doctor's offices that try and make you feel like a complete idiot for not understanding their way of processing all these transactions. After my three colon surgeries I felt like I had become a pro at dealing with it, but I have lost my edge.
Between Maddy's doctor visits and hospitalization in June, my prenatal visits that I have had since May and Luke's immunizations a couple of weeks ago we have seen our fair share of doctor's offices. And knowing what our deductibles are, I made sure each of our deductibles were met at the respective visits. That should be it, right? Meet your deductible, simply pay your co-pay from there.
Don't I wish - I have received bills from my and the kids doctor's (which might as well be printed in Greek) showing what the charges were, what we paid and what the insurance paid - AS WELL AS WHAT WE STILL OWE! I think they are all straightened out for now. But considering the fact I have several more visits (and a delivery) to go, I am sure I will get the complete joy of chatting with these people over and over again.
Oh yeah, and we have dentist visits coming up for me and all three kids...this should be a hoot.
