Lunar Eclipse 2004

| | Comments (0)

Matt and I watched the lunar eclipse with the kids last night last night. It was was beautiful to see and reminded me that God has a plan. He knew when He made the earth, sun and moon that He was setting them in motion to line up perfectly on these days. Although the kids seemed to have more fun playing on daddy's truck than watching the moon, I know that they can look up and know that is it God's handiwork, too.

Happy Birthday, Marty!!

Feeling Yucky

| | Comments (1)

The weekend started out pretty good - on Friday night Matt made a road trip to Houston with Sean and Daniel to go look at some stuff at a music store. And on Saturday we did the table swap with Glenda, and later Maddy and I got out by ourselves to go "shopping". I just had a few things I needed from Wal Mart, but any shopping is great for Maddy.
And then it hit me - I started feeling bad Saturday night, headache and my my throat was hurting a little. And when I woke up Sunday I felt like I had been run over by a truck. My headache was worse, my throat hurt so that I couldn't hardly swallow and I was aching all over. I am starting to feel a little better now - if it's not much better by this afternoon I'll call the doctor.
We had to miss the Trunk ot Treat at church yesterday afternoon, but the kids did great at playing around the house all day.

Table switch

Today we traded tables with my friends mother. She was needing something smaller since it is just her and her husband, and I have been wanting one with more space (and matching chairs). So, we swapped. The kids like it alot beacuse they get to sit on a bench. I think it will have to grow on Matt, he doesn't like change much. All in all I think it is a good fit for our dining space.

Never Again

Never again will I go shoe shopping for the kids with all three of them in tow. We spent 3 1/2 hours this morning running all over town trying to find new tennis shoes for the twins.

Around the house

Here are some pictures I have snapped of the kids around the house this month. Luke "helping" Matt do some work on the computer, Sam and Maddy playing mommy and daddy in her room, Luke on the couch for a rest and Maddy showing me her ballerin moves.

A Year Ago Today...

A year ago today I was in the hospital in Dallas saying good bye to my colon that had given me nothing but trouble in the last 8 years. I had illeoanal resevoir anastomosis with a j-pouch, after dealing with ulcerative colitis for years.

Well, the "scripture of the day" has turned into "scripture of the week or so".

Lindsey

My youngest sister, Lindsey, is in Houston this morning to have gastric bypass surgery. We all love her so much and pray that the surgery goes well. She has always been beautiful to us, and now she will be able to feel good about her body, too.

My helpers

The kids helped me bake a cake, and I quickly discovered what their favorite part was. I remember being in the kitchen with my mom as she was baking, and knowing at the end there would be a batter covered spoon or two for my sisters and I to taste from.

Tinkerbell for now

Cinderella has been replaced with Tinkerbell for Madeline's Halloween costume. And chances are Sleeping Beauty, Ariel or Snow White could still have a chance...

Painting our House

| | Comments (0)

We decided a couple of weeks ago to paint the exterior of our house. We were starting to see signs of wear in the paint and the colors were a little dated (country blue and light peach). We picked out the colors we liked: "Bone white" for the main color, "Spiced Wine" (a chocolate brown) for the trim and "Burning Bush" (red) for our door. It looks great but it is SO much more work than we anticipated. Plus we have had lots of rain since we started and so we are workiing in spurts. I will post more pictures when we are all done - soon hopefully!

Blessed rain

This evening we all got out for a drive to run a couple of errands. Luke asked if I would play his favorite song, so I pulled out the CD and skipped to #7 - "Same Ole Me" by George Jones. In the back seat I could hear this little voice mumbling the lyrics and when the chorus came on Madeline was singing all the words! She made me repeat it about 4 times, but then Luke finally asked if we could listen to the next song, as he calls it - "Armadillo by Morning" by George Strait.

Luke, Sam and Maddy sharing laughs together

The kids defintely have their moments when it seems like they can't do anything but argue and fight. But moments like these, where they are laughing and playing together seem to be happening alot more often lately. They are growing to be not only brothers and sister but best friends and protectors of one another.
